I offer Somatics classes in my studio (which is behind my house in South Tabor, Portland OR) as well as Take It Outside Fitness classes that incorporate somatic awareness in quicker motions. You can attend classes as you like, though the more regularly you attend, the more your brain will lay down new neural pathways. Purchase your punchcard or drop-in fee online and reserve your spot. Punchcards are good for the Somatics classes and my outdoor somatic awareness classes listed below.

Hi everyone! Here is what we are focusing on this month in Somatics classes. The theme this month is FREEDOM! Freedom from tension. Freedom from pain. Freedom from dependency on outside forces trying to change you, When you tap into your natural ability to sense yourself you shape shift out of defeating patterns into ones of freedom and ease. There are 43 muscles in your face alone. From there, there are muscles that run over and and around the skull which work in tandem with muscles of the neck, shoulders and back. So what does that mean? Our posture affects our faces and vice versa! This class will be a subtle exploration of what we feel in our faces when we move our bodies, as well as what we feel in our bodies as we contract and release facial muscles. So long botox, I can relax my facial muscles with my brain!

We are born to pandiculate! We pandiculated as babies and young children. Animals do it 30-40 times a day. Pandiculations are gentle contractions and gentle releases, that leaves muscles relaxed to their natural resting length. Join me in class where I'll share simple, seated ways to pandiculate all day, at work, in traffic and while stuck on the phone with your stoopid internet provider. :-) Bye bye stress, hello freedom!
All classes are somatically based. Somatics classes are for all levels. Other movement classes take your new-found somatic awareness and move it up into vertical positions with more playful, quicker movements. Join these groups for:

Punchcards are good for any of my scheduled classes. Cards expire 3 months from date of purchase.
INFO about ONLINE CLASSES
To "attend" online classes you will need
* a wifi connection
* a laptop computer, tablet, ipad, smart phone device (desktop computers don't work well because they are on a desk and you are on the floor)
* open space to lie down on the floor (unless we are doing a seated/standing class)
* so I can see you better, a well lit area works best
* space to walk around a bit as well
Within 30-60 minutes before the start of an online class, I'll send out an email with a link to your online classroom. Here's a tutorial to learn how to join the classroom once you receive the link.
Please get online prior to class and set up your space so you are visible to the camera of your device. If I can't see you, I can't help you with your practice as well. Below is an example of what I'm talking about.
Since I've started Somatics my body feels "looser" and more relaxed, especially when I'm moving. ... my aches and pains that I thought were part of aging are gone. I'm much more aware of my alignment as I walk .... I feel way more in tune with my body.
I'm not a natural athlete and usually prefer to curl up with a book instead of moving around. Just knowing that something is good for me isn't enough to motivate me. But boy am I motivated by anything that makes me feel this good. And doing Somatics makes me feel so good it makes it easier to actually do the "exercises".
