I offer multiple ways to incorporate Somatics into your life.
Private Somatics Hands-on Sessions | more details
If you committed to learning to move well so you can live well, and are able to work with a Essential Somatic Educator in person, do it! Hands-on sessions are done with you on a table, fully clothed. The work we do together stimulates your sensory motor cortex with greater impact than the somatics moves you learn from a book or video. Your session will address your particular issues, and you will receive notes and videos to help you with your home practice.
Private Online Lesson | more details
This option is perfect for folks out of town, who can't make it to an online class, or just want a perfectly tailored lesson for his/her own issues/needs. Similar to an online class, but you are the only student present. A wifi connection, laptop or device with a camera is required.
In person classes | more details
Work with me in person to insure personal attention. I offer Somatics classes in my SE Portland studio and functional movement classes outdoors. These classes are offered pretty much year round, and you can join them at any time.
Downloadable Somatics Lessons | more details
Now you can practice Somatics any time, anywhere! Purchase Somatics lessons in audio or video format.
Online classes | more details
Online classes are designed for those who wish to work with a Somatic Educator but don't have one in their area. You sign up for a prescheduled class, are sent an link to online class room, and we can see and talk to each other via Zoom (similar to Skype, but easier and no account required). Online classes are offered at intervals through the year. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter to stay up to date.
Since I've started Somatics my body feels "looser" and more relaxed, especially when I'm moving. Most of my aches and pains that I thought were part of aging are gone. I'm much more aware of my alignment as I walk .... I feel way more in tune with my body.
I'm not a natural athlete and usually prefer to curl up with a book instead of moving around. Just knowing that something is good for me isn't enough to motivate me. But boy am I motivated by anything that makes me feel this good. And doing Somatics makes me feel so good it makes it easier to actually do the "exercises".
